Dear Pirate Family, 

Happy Derby Weekend! Just a reminder we will not have school on Friday, May 1st. 

Next week is National Teacher Appreciation Week. Please take a minute to send a note or email to any staff member at CMS who has made a difference for your child.

It’s that time of year again.  Time to find those overdue library books.  Check your lockers, under your bed & in that room that you haven’t cleaned in months!  Lost/late/over due notices are going out today.  All books need to be returned by May 6th.


 

All 7th grade student ambassador applications are due to the counseling office by Thursday. No late applications will be accepted. 

 

The Indiana Troopers Youth Services is offering a program for middle school students to explore careers in law enforcement. They are offering a camp specifically designed for students going into 6th or 7th grade. It is called Law Camp. Participants will become familiar with police equipment, conduct their own crime scene investigations, participate in physical training, hear from defense attorneys, judges, and other experts in the criminal justice field, and watch exciting police demonstrations.

 

Dates: June 28 – Jul 1, 2026 at Anderson University in Anderson Indiana

            July 7 – 11, 2026 at the Columbus Youth Camp near Columbus, Indiana

 

Please stop by the counseling office to pick up your application if you are interested. Registration must be completed by , as spaces fill up quickly.


 

The Charlestown Marching Band and Color Guard Mini Camp will be on Tuesday, May 12th at 4pm in the CHS Band Room. A Parent meeting will be after at 6pm. 

 

Open for 7th grade and up! Students do not have to be in band class to do Color Guard. Students already participating should plan to attend. 

 

Attention Athletes: Physical Night will be May 15 from 5-7 PM at Charlestown High School. Doors will close at 6 PM, so make sure to get there early. The cost is $30 ($5 goes towards Final Forms).

Student Council would like to give a big THANK YOU to everyone who donated to Ronald McDonald House Charities. Because of your generosity, our school collected nearly 400 items! These donations will make a meaningful difference for families during times when they need support the most.

We’d also like to congratulate our winning class—Mrs. Bower’s first period—for bringing in the most donations! They’ve earned a doughnut party, sponsored by Student Council.

Great job, everyone, and thank you for showing such kindness and school spirit!

To Use the Kroger Community Rewards Program:

Once logged in to your Kroger account, you can search for Charlestown Middle School either by name or JC992 and then click Enroll.

New users will need to create an account which requires some basic information, a valid email address and a rewards card.

Dear Pirate Family, 

 

Hello!  

 

Starting Monday, April 6th, the Student Council will be collecting donations for Ronald McDonald House Charities. This organization helps families stay close to their children while they are in the hospital by providing food, comfort, and a place to stay.

 

We are collecting items like pasta sauce, cereal, canned vegetables, individually packaged snacks, toilet paper, Clorox wipes, and paper towels. Teachers, a full list of items that can be turned in has been placed in your mailbox.

 

Students can bring donations to their first-period class all week. The first period class that collects the most items will win a donut party!

 

If you have any questions, please see Ms. Brafford.

 

Student Council will also be doing a Spirit Week in honor of Ronald McDonald House Charities. Even if you can’t donate items, please join in by participating in the Spirit Days!

 

 

 

Monday, April 6th – Pajama Day 😴 “Stay Cozy for a Cause!” Students wear their PJs to represent the comfort families feel staying at RMHC.

 

 

 

Tuesday, April 7th- Favorite Sports Team Day 🏀🏈⚾ “Team Up for Families in Need!” Students can wear jerseys, hats, or team colors to show how working together as a team can support families staying at Ronald McDonald House Charities.

 

 

 

Wednesday, April 8th- Wear Red Day ❤️ “Paint the School Red with Kindness!” Red represents RMHC—fill the halls with support and awareness.

 

 

 

Thursday, April 9th- Sweatpants Day- “Get Comfy, Give Back!” Keep it comfy while showing support for families who need a place to relax during tough times.

 

 

 

Friday, April 10th- School Spirit Day 🎉 “Show Your School Spirit, Share Your Heart!” Wear school colors to show unity and pride while giving back.
